How Do I Get My Students Involved in the Student Ministry?
This is probably
the most frequently asked question of The Student Ministry. The tough part
is, there is no one right answer for every student. We do want to mention a
few different ideas of getting your son/daughter involved in The Student
Ministry. One of the easiest ways to get your student involved is to
introduce them to one of the Student Staff Members during the week or at one
of our Sunday services at the Cross Point Center. We invite you to come with
your student to get to know the staff and the other volunteers that will be
investing time into your son/daughter. Once a staff member meets them, the
staff member will find a student who can show your son/daughter around
during the services. This is key to having your student feel “plugged in”.
Small Groups
Another way to get your student connected is to get them involved in a small
group. These small groups are called Elevate, and we have them on Sundays
in the AM and PM. The Elevate AM groups are age and gender divided and meet
in the Cross Point Center. High School students (Varsity) meet in the
activity center and the middle school (JV) meet in the green room. Elevate
PM is also divided between JV and Varsity, JV meet at the Cross Point Center
from 6-8 pm and Varsity meeting in homes near you during the school year.
These smaller group settings allow for a deep study of Gods word and
conversations about who God is. This is where we develop strong relational
leverage with our students. Most groups average between 12-25 people. You
can go to the Elevate page on this website or call The Student Ministry
office to find out more details about Elevate and where your
son’s/daughter’s group meets.
EVENTS
Another way to get your son/daughter involved
in the ministry is to come to a major event. Because of all the events we
have, it may be a lot less threatening to come to an event rather than a
church service or Bible study. The student ministry staff wants to do
whatever is possible in order for your student to get involved in the
ministry. There is no greater thing your son/daughter could be involved in
than The Student Ministry at Scotts Hill Baptist Church as they move through
those turbulent middle school and High School years.
