Last Night!

  • COME - READY

So we've been at this for 2 weeks now, and I think we've covered a TON of ground discovering some different Heroes of the Bible. First, Noah, and how he was a hero by saving the human race from total annihilation by simply building a boat, something that many of us would think is border-line silly. Then, we took a look at Esther and how her position in life gave her the perfect opportunity to save her heritage of people, even if that meant she had to risk her life! "If I must die, I must die." - the words Esther spoke before risking it all. These words can apply to any one of our lives. How many of us are actually willing to DIE for our faith in Christ, to die for doing the right thing? Well, this Wednesday night we are going to introduce yet another character of the Bible who was a hero in their own right. This week is going to be different, unlike any other Wednesday night. So if you're coming with the intent to goof off or crack jokes, then maybe this is the week for you to tone it down, pay attention, and actually LEARN from the Word of God. This Wednesday night, would you come prepared for a night that will engage your heart, you mind, and, ultimately, your soul. Come, this week, prepared to hear from God.

  • HEROES

January is nearing it's end, but our series HEROES is still gaining momentum in week 2. If you were able to make it out for week 1, you found out about how Noah was a hero in his own right, going against the grain of the rest of the entire world, following God, and, ultimately, saving the human race from a complete wipe out.

God had reached a point of remorse and sorrow, even anger, with the way that the world was. And in the midst of evil, Noah ended up being the standout, the consecrated, the HERO of his time. He didn't need a cape, a mask, a superpower; all he needed was an outstanding faith in God.

Each and every one of us can be a superhero in our own right. Not by anything that we have done, but by the fact that we have faith in Jesus Christ. For an even deeper understanding of this truth, come out for week 2 of HEROES. It's on TONIGHT at Detour. Doors open at 6:15 PM.

Last Night!

WOW!  We had an incredible night last night as God had some really big plans for our students.  I was talking with pastorJon after the service and he made the statement that God wanted those students so bad last night that he blew enough wind to cancel out whatever else was going on to bring the students to Detour.

(Matthew 8:23-27Then he got into the boat and his disciplesfollowed him.24Without warning, a furious storm came up on thelake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We'regoing to drown!"

26He replied,"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up andrebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Eventhe winds and the waves obey him!")

I think it is awesome how God works.  I want to encourage you to continue to pray with your door closed.  Get alone and spend some quiet time with God.  I know it’s hard to actually get alone and concentrate fully on one thing.  We live in a culture that has trained us to multi-task like never before.  We’re driving, texting, updating our facebook status, eating and listening to music all at the sametime.  But God wants you to get alone with Him so that He can begin to do an awesome work in your lives.  If the first time you get alone with God and you can't seem to concentrate, don't be discouraged keep coming back it may take a little practice.

Something else that may help would be to designate a spot that will help you focus.  I know many times I am laying in bed praying, but find myself falling to sleep in mid prayer.  What you may want to think about is kneeling at the foot of the bed, not because it's more Holy, but it puts you in a position that is purposeful.  The only time you kneel at the foot of your bed is when you’re praying, that’s the focus.  Find a purposeful place to talk with God, He’s waiting to hear from you!

Remember to Pray for the three things we talked about last night:

1. Protection from Temptation

2. People in your life that don't knowGod

3. Things you are Thankful for!
