Communicating

  • Siri 2

This Wednesday night we are continuing our series entitled "Siri," answering all of the questions that were sent in by Y-O-U, the students! Last week we were able to address two big topics: God and Relationships. We covered questions ranging in nature from 'Is God always here?' to 'How can I witness to my friends around me?' These questions are ones that many of us face every day. If you haven't been able to make it out to Detour in the past couple of weeks, you will definitely want to be here this week! We only have a few more Wednesday nights left this school year and we really want for everyone to join us as we close out the school year!

ATTN: SENIORS -- If you are graduating THIS YEAR, we will be hosting A NIGHT JUST FOR YOU on MAY 30th. That's NEXT WEEK! We want to HONOR YOU for your participation in this ministry at Scotts Hill. Whether you USED TO be a part of the ministry, or STILL PARTICIPATE with us weekly, WE WANT YOU HERE on this night. If being with your friends isn't appealing enough, we will have FREE FOOD for ALL OF THE SENIOR CLASS. It's going to be an AWESOME NIGHT and we DON'T WANT YOU TO MISS IT!!
  • BigStuf - Siri

This past Wednesday night we had the opportunity to give everyone a small little taste of BigStuf and what it has to offer. Experiencing the worship, testimony, and FUN that such a camp possesses is really an encouragement to go, and to experience God in such a way. The U in F-U-N stands for Uncomfortable. This sticks out as something that many of us don't want to be, but it's something that God pulls us toward. When we are uncomfortable in ourselves, we are forced to find comfort in His love. Sometimes it takes a camp experience to reveal that, and sometimes it takes an amount of discomfort for us to get comfortable with Christ.

Next Wednesday we will be kicking off our series entitled "Siri." After the new iPhone amenity that answers many of our daily questions, we have created "Siri" to answer YOUR questions on your faith, God, life, really anything you want to know about how to be a follower devoted to Christ. If you have questions, you can text them to (910) 685.1174. We hope to hear from you and answer all your struggles with Biblical Truth.

  • War-ship

A while back, I created a playlist of songs that I entitled "warship." That may sound like an odd but familiar name for a playlist. Playing off of the word 'worship,' I decided that I would entitle my list of songs something a little more edgy. I wanted to put myself in the mindset that when I was listening to these songs about God, His love for us, and our response to His love, I was preparing myself like a war ship, ready to go into battle. Every day we encounter spiritual warfare, as Satan wages war on our souls and our lives, trying to make us give in when times are tough. But God wants us to be prepared, giving us His word and inspiring others to write songs of praise and strength to Him.

Wednesday night we are holding our DNOW worship night, and we will be giving a sneak peak of the activities that take place at DNOW Caswell in September. I want to encourage you to come and experience a night of giving God glory and praising His name. Whether you understand what worship is or not, it would be a great opportunity to come and prepare yourselves for what this world is going to throw at you. So come, be a part of the "warship" night at Detour this Wednesday night.

COME - READY

So we've been at this for 2 weeks now, and I think we've covered a TON of ground discovering some different Heroes of the Bible. First, Noah, and how he was a hero by saving the human race from total annihilation by simply building a boat, something that many of us would think is border-line silly. Then, we took a look at Esther and how her position in life gave her the perfect opportunity to save her heritage of people, even if that meant she had to risk her life! "If I must die, I must die." - the words Esther spoke before risking it all. These words can apply to any one of our lives. How many of us are actually willing to DIE for our faith in Christ, to die for doing the right thing? Well, this Wednesday night we are going to introduce yet another character of the Bible who was a hero in their own right. This week is going to be different, unlike any other Wednesday night. So if you're coming with the intent to goof off or crack jokes, then maybe this is the week for you to tone it down, pay attention, and actually LEARN from the Word of God. This Wednesday night, would you come prepared for a night that will engage your heart, you mind, and, ultimately, your soul. Come, this week, prepared to hear from God.
