updating the blogeth

So, I have been looking at some of the pretty amazing artistic avenues that a certain person within our staff ::cough cough:: has been exploring on his blog and I have come to a serious conclusion: I NEED HELP UPDATING THE BLOG!!! AAAAaaaaaHHHHHHhhhhhh!  I have issues with advances in technology. . .basically I don’t understand technology and I really want to!

It was only a few christmas’ ago that my mommy got me my very own desktop…and then shortly after that I got a laptop….and when everyone else was injoying the digital camera I was still trying to figure out how to use my computer (which if you didn’t notice, computers have been around for a while).  Then I got a digital camera the christmas before last- which I have loved every second of but I still don’t know how to use all the fun little gadgets on it….and while everyone was enjoying life with ipods and mp3’s I was still trying to figure out my luxurious camera.  This past christmas, my mom and dad bought me and ipod (finally) which was pretty amazing because life has now been lived with songs playing the background (my life is like a movie with tunes in the back- I wonder what my life soundtrack would be?  I guess that’s a whole other blog).  So, while I’m still trying to figure out the crazy in’s and out’s of my ipod, camera, and laptop….my friends have began this whole outlandish blogging with twitters and weblinks etc etc.  Are you seeing the viscious cycle of my technological impairment?!  HELP!

So yep, that’s my current delimma with my blog- which is no excuse for not blogging but it is an excuse for not having such savvy blogging skills.  But I want all of you to know that this week I will be attempting to update my blog to have those super cool functions that allow me to put up embarrassing pictures and silly videos…I FACT, I MIGHT JUST GET SOOOOO good at it that MY BLOG WOULD BE BETTER THAN THEIRS….HA!  So watch out world, here I come!!!

I’m Back!!!!

Hey everyone!  So, it’s been what, a month or so since I last blogged and a TON has happened since then!  Just to catch all of you up on the craziness of the month of July, here’s a quick recap:

1. We kicked off the summer series “Detour 500″ where the AMAZING orange team basically killed the blue team the first two weeks.  GGGGGooooo OOOOORRRange!!!!!!  By the end of the series, despite our great efforts, the Blue team won the overall championship.  Now, it is my opinion that the orange team SHOULD have won from shear team spirit….however the Blue team seemed to find it in themselves to barely beat the Orange team.  According to my sources, it’s “GO POO (BLUE) OR GO HOME!” ;0)

2.  I was out a few weeks of work due to surgery- nothing major but definitely made me have to take some time to rest.  I definitely missed being in the office and socializing and connecting with students.

3.  MISSION TRIP 08- we went to Buffalo NY and served the community through VBS, construction work, as well as working with a refugee ministry in the area.  It was one of those incredibly trips (probably one of the best) where every student is ready and willing to serve, their hearts are open to change and renewal, and we all solidified friendships that I know will last for a lifetime.

Overall, it’s been a whirlwind of memories and great experiences throughout this summer.  WE’ve seen life changes made as a result of what God is doing in a single persons heart, we’ve watched as our group has become more unified than I can remember it ever being, and I have had the pure joy of being a part of it all (which I take as being just one of the many gifts of working with students your age).

So, just as a last standing line- brought to you straight from the confines of Summer Saunders’ mind. . . .

“I’m a queen on the mic, so listen to me sing; He’s wants a number 3 super size onion ring!”

I love you all!  Thanks for making this summer the best!

1/2 way there!

Well what do you know….IT’S ALREADY ALMOST HALFWAY THROUGH THE SUMMER!!!  We’ve already had a slip-n-slide cookout, went to Bigstuf, had hangtimes AND a JV Spray day and now we are officially beginning our FIRST EVER all-out-summer series!  The Detour Office is buzzing with excitement and everyone is getting the finishing touches in place so that this series will be one that NO ONE forgets!  If you’re planning on takin’ the summer off from Detour, I advise you not to.  Get yourself dressed in active clothes, practice your best team chant, and come to Detour ready to take on the best face-off team challanges we’ve ever done!

I hope I see every one of you there!
